As a former high school teacher with 35 years in the classroom and coaching young men I speak from experience when I tell you that kids today are as good and as smart as they have ever been. In 2012 I was able to take 3 fine young men on their very first western big game hunt and I enjoyed every moment with them. My good friend Dave Anderson asked me to take his son Nate on an antelope hunt in 2012 and I was more than happy to help this terrific young man. Nate can walk, shoot and stay calm. When he got his chance he flattened this fine antelope with one quick shot. Congratulations Nate!

Steve Schmidt has been my auto insurance agent for many years now. Steve is an interesting man who shares some of the same passions that I have including family, baseball and hunting. Over the years we have developed a good relationship. When he told me he had two teenage sons I told him I would take them antelope hunting at no charge if he brought them out west and met me.

This October that is exactly what happened! Steve even brought his wife and they turned it into a quick family vacation. Both of Steve's sons took nice antelope and I enjoyed being with them. If more parents took their kids hunting the world would unquestionably be a much better place. Take your children hunting and you will never have to hunt for your children!

As I mentioned earlier, much of antelope country in and around the Black Hills was devastated by severe winter conditions in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Dan Berrum had hunted with us in 2008 and witnessed the decline in antelope numbers himself when he hunted with Andy in mid October. There are still trophy antelope, but they are no longer abundant. I am certain Dan Berrum would tell you that if you are headed west for a nice antelope, you need someone who knows the country and can see and judge game.

Ron Hagemeyer has been a loyal customer of Hunt Bud Consulting for several years. I always enjoy hunting with Ron because he can walk, shoot and is fun to be with. This past October Ron brought his son-in-law on his first ever western hunt of any kind. Both Ron and his son-in-law enjoyed time together, shot well and harvested nice antelope.

Ron's son-in-law was a gentleman and easy to get along with. He took his first ever antelope with one clean and quick 200 yard shot!
